Muharram 2022 Date, History and Importance of Ashura Muharram 2022 Muharram is first month of the Islamic Calender and it is also known as the Hijri and the ‘Month of Allah’. Muharram has a great significance among Muslims. This month is considered as the second sacred month after Ramadan.
Muharram is one of the four sanctified months of the year. This year, Muharram has started on 31st July and it will conclude on 28th of August, 2022.
Muharram commemorates the death of the Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Hussein Ibn Ali. Hussain was murdered during the Battle of Karbala by caliph Yazid and the battle took place on the day of Ashura.
Many Shia Muslim mourn and remember the bravery of the Prophet’s family due to the brutality of the battle and the murder of the Prophet’s grandson during a month when fighting is forbidden.
Ashura is the tenth day of Muharram. People observe fast on the day of Ashura. Ashura is the day, when people show their gratitude towards Allah. The processions for Ashura will begin from 8th August, 2022.
